Green School has installed a new prairie at Durant Middle School. We began prepping the project about a year ago and finally have it in place. It is seeded with native prairie plants (aster and goldenrod) and will provide habitat and food for native wildlife. It will also work as a carbon sink to help slow global warming, continuously pulling carbon from the atmosphere into the plants and soil. The area will no longer be mowed and will grow throughout the year. Our Green School students will work to maintain it and add additional plants.
